About

Welcome From the Head of School

As soon as you enter our campus, you will experience the palpable positive energy and find a place where you belong. The New School campus is a special place, where learning happens everywhere - from the tree-lined outdoor pathways to the innovation center to the theater stage to the state-of-the-art science labs and more.

A mentor of mine reminds me often that one of the most powerful implicit promises an independent school can make to parents is that each of their children will be known, valued and cared for. I see that everyday here at The New School, where our teachers truly value each individual student, encouraging them to try new experiences, challenging them appropriately, and supporting them through the necessary struggles that lead to growth and success.

From our youngest learners at one-year-old to our high school seniors to our teachers and school leaders, we are a community of learners in a school that values innovation, curiosity, character, and community. Four years ago, I was drawn to The New School because this school community embraces emotional intelligence not as separate from academic achievement, but rather as an integral component of academic achievement. With rich curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular offerings, The New School provides each individual with opportunities to pursue passions and explore new interests.

In 2022-23, we were re-accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and the Arkansas Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (ANSAA), validating our commitment to continuous improvement. After a multi-year, broadly inclusive strategic planning process, our Board of Trustees has approved our dynamic Strategic Priorities to guide us in developing leaders for our changing world with our unique approach to academic excellence through whole-person education. The recent award of a prestigious E.E. Ford Foundation Grant enables us to take bold and innovative steps forward to redefine academic rigor for the future, where we acknowledge that cultures of belonging and wellness elevate academic success!

Northwest Arkansas offers a unique experience of multicultural diversity. The local community benefits from the University of Arkansas, multiple international businesses, a wealth of outdoor activities, and a thriving arts community.

I hope you will come visit and see for yourself why our school is such a special place.

Warm regards,

Nancy Lang
