Admissions
The New School seeks to enroll students who will benefit from its mission and programs. The goal of the school is to select a well balanced and diverse student body composed of students who will be successful in the traditions of The New School. Inquiries are welcome and parents of candidates applying for admission should telephone for an appointment to meet with the admissions staff and to tour the school.
Tuition & Fees
A New School education is a major investment in your child's future. The school works to assist families to meet this commitment through a variety of payment plans and need-based financial aid.
Preschool Admission Policy
Parents interested in enrolling their child in our preschool program should contact the school as soon as the child is born. Upon reviewing the admission and program information, parents should contact the Preschool Director for a tour of the facilities. Our preschool classes are arranged according to children's attendance schedules with classes for full-time students and part-time students offered at each age level. Full-day and half-day schedules are available. Preschool enrollment is for the full calendar year.
Students in the preschool program are placed in our waiting pool upon completion of a pre-enrollment form, and payment of the $250 enrollment fee. Students not offered a placement in the two-year-old program are welcome to remain in the waiting pool. Parents are also given the opportunity to defer enrollment in our program until the child is ready for the three or four year old program.
Age Requirements:
- Nursery School: Age 2 by August 1st
- Pre-Kindergarten: Age 4 by September 1st

Preschool students entering The New School should present current immunization records and a well-child physical assessment prior to admission.
Elementary & Middle School Admission Policy
The school carefully weighs a variety of factors when making admission decisions for Elementary and Middle School enrollment. Previous school records and teacher recommendations are required prior to the admission of new students. Prior grades, achievement test scores, conduct reports and attendance records will be taken under consideration. Upon receipt of admission materials, an assessment of the prospective student will be arranged with the Elementary and Middle School Principal.

- Receipt of Student's Immunization Records
- Review of Student Records/Application by Director and Principal
- Interview of Parent by Director or Principal
- Assessment of skill levels in Reading, Language Arts, and Math
- Interview of Prospective Student by Teacher or Principal
- Meeting of Admissions Committee
- Notification of Admission Decision
