Elementary & Middle School Admissions

The New School seeks to enroll students who will benefit from its mission and programs. The goal of the school is to select a well balanced and diverse student body composed of students who will be successful in the traditions of The New School. Admission Policy

The school carefully weighs a variety of factors when making admission decisions for Elementary and Middle School enrollment. Previous school records and teacher recommendations are required prior to the admission of new students. Prior grades, achievement test scores, conduct reports and attendance records will be taken under consideration. Upon receipt of admission materials, an assessment of the prospective student will be arranged with the Elementary and Middle School Principal.

Admission Procedure

After you have taken a tour of our school and met with our Director of Admissions, the admission procedure can begin.  The following are components of our elementary and middle school admission process:

  1. Receipt of Application of Admission

  2. Receipt of Student Records

  3. Receipt of Student Referral Form

  4. Receipt of Student's Immunization Records

  5. Review of Student Records/Application by Director and Principal

  6. Interview of Parent by Director or Principal

  7. Assessment of skill levels in Reading, Language Arts, and Math

  8. Interview of Prospective Student by Teacher or Principal

  9. Meeting of the Admissions Committee

  10. Notification of Admission Decision

Tuition & Fees

A New School education is an investment in your child's future. The school works to assist families to meet this commitment through a variety of payment plans and need-based financial aid.

K-7 Tuition: $9,050

2011-2012 School Year

Tuition Inlcudes:

  • 178 Instructional Days
  • Before-school Care from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m.
  • After-school Care from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, and Afternoon Snacks
  • 10 Optional Childcare Days: Spring Break, Teacher Conference Days, MLK Jr. Day.

New Students Only. Payable w/ Application (non-refundable)

Building Maintenance Fee $550

 All Students. Payable upon Registration

Supply & Yearbook Fee $450*

All Students. Payable upon Registration.

*Special arrangements can be made to pay the Supply & Yearbook Fee in 10 installments of $45 with monthly tuition payments.

1. Annual Tuition Payment: $8,900/year

Pay $550 Building Maintenance Fee and $450 Supply & Yearbook Fee with registration. Pay Annual Payment by August 1st 2011. This includes a discount for prepayment. Payments must be made by August 1st to receive the discount.

2. Monthly Tuition Payment: $905/month

Pay $550 Building Maintenance Fee and $450 Supply & Yearbook Fee with registration. Pay Monthly Tuition through automatic bank draft on the 1st of each month.

3. Monthly Tuition Payment w/ Fee Installments: $950/month

Pay $550 Building Maintenance Fee with registration. Pay $450 Supply & Yearbook Fee in installments of $45 with monthly tuition payments. Pay monthly tuition and fee installments through automatic bank draft on the 1st of each month.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available through The New School Scholarship Program to income-eligible families in the form of tuition reductions. The Financial Aid Committee will review applications and award financial aid in May and August of each year.
