Dear New School Families,

Our strong tradition of giving stretches back to when The New School was founded in 1971. Whether your child is in our ECE program or we celebrated them in our first graduating class, our proud culture of philanthropy continues to foster a long-standing partnership between TNS and our families, ensuring that The New School fulfills its commitment to excellence in student learning.
Maintaining an outstanding faculty, an innovative curriculum, and our beautiful campus is an hefty investment that is not covered by tuition alone. By participating as a financial supporter, you help ensure the financial stability in today's competitive school marketplace.
Your support also advances our School’s mission and vision, empowers students, inspires intellectual curiosity, and celebrates both effort and accomplishment. We encourage parents, alumni and their parents, grandparents, faculty, and friends of The New School to get involved!
Below are a few ways to be involved and FAQs:

  • Cash or Securities: The school gratefully accepts online gifts, checks, credit cards, or securities. Many employers offer to match the gifts that their employees (or spouses) make to non-profit organizations.

  • Endowed and Restricted Gifts:  Endowed and restricted funds help ensure that we will be sustained well into the future. Contributions to existing endowments are accepted regularly and added to the principal of the fund in accordance with the donors’ wishes. Naming opportunities are available for those interested in establishing an endowed fund to honor or memorialize a student, faculty member, or family member.

  • Planned Gifts:  Planned Giving is an excellent way to ensure a bright future for our School. We honor and appreciate all individuals who have included TNS in their estate plans. Among the various forms of gifts are bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, life insurance, and gifts of property or other tangible assets.

Ways of Giving: Frequently Asked Questions
Q. In what ways can gifts be made to TNS?
A. There are several ways in which donors may contribute to our School. Gifts of cash (checks or credit card) are made most frequently. Gifts of appreciated securities and mutual funds are simple to facilitate and can earn the donor additional tax benefits. Many corporations match an employee's charitable gift to the School, which is an easy way to increase the size of your gift to The New School.
Q. What is capital giving?
A. Independent schools depend on capital fundraising initiatives to provide funds for long-term needs. Capital gifts are typically gifts that help increase the endowment for scholarship, fund new construction, renovate or remodel existing facilities and classrooms, and purchase expensive equipment.
Q. Are gifts to TNS tax deductible?
A. All gifts made to The New School are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

What could be more important than a child's future? By engaging in the life of a close-knit family school, The New School children challenge their intellect, discover new talents, develop their character, and prepare for lives of meaning and purpose.
I look forward to visiting with each of you to explore how you can help us continue to flourish at The New School!

In partnership,
