Nancy Lang | February 15 | Cougar Chronicle

Dear New School Community,

As we reflect on the past year, we most certainly acknowledge the many challenges we’ve faced, individually and collectively. Not to diminish the impact of those challenges, I believe it is healthy to consider the things that have remained consistent and some of the opportunities we would not have discovered without some of the challenges.

In this week’s Chronicle, our administrative team highlights some of the things that have remained steady in our education, including the importance of music and movement in education, the need to continually evaluate and update our curriculum, the role of professional development for our teachers, and the cyclical nature of athletic seasons.

One opportunity that has risen to the forefront for me is access to resources and people through virtual platforms. If you had asked me a year ago who I would like to “bring” to Fayetteville for community education, I would have answered with names like Michael Thompson, Julie Lythcott-Haims, Denise Pope, and Lisa Damour.  Each has carried a hefty pricetag and full schedules … until now! We now have access to these experts, among others, through some exciting virtual Parent Education opportunities, through our membership in ISACS and affiliation with Challenge Success

We have registered The New School for the ISACS series of four one-hour webinars, which makes them available to all of you for FREE! Additionally, the Challenge Success series offers at least two webinars (The Well-Balanced Child, A Healthier Approach to College Admissions) for $10 each. You do need to register to gain access to all of these. It’s worth your time to hear speakers like Michael Thompson, Lisa Damour, and Denise Pope!
