The New School expects parents to pay the educational costs for their students to the full extent they are financially able. This policy applies to all parents, even those divorced or separated. Custodial and non-custodial parents must complete their portion of the SSS Financial aid application (see below.) If one or both parents have remarried, the step-parent’s financial information must be included in the financial aid application.

Admission and tuition assistance are completely separate processes. You may apply for tuition assistance through SSS NAIS  (see below) before, during or after the admission process. Financial need is not a consideration for admission. All students must follow the admission process in order to be considered for acceptance into The New School. Please contact the Office of Admission for more information regarding the admission process.

Payment in Full

Payment of Tuition by July 1, of application year. Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) is recommended.

• 3% off if paid by May 1.
• 2% off if paid by June 1. 

Two Installments of Tuition

Enrollment Deposit due with contract by deadline. Tuition Insurance (TRP) required.

• 2 Installment payments of Tuition - Payment Dates: July 1, December 1 of application year

Four Installments of Tuition

Enrollment Deposit due with contract by deadline. Tuition Insurance (TRP) required. 

• 4 Installment payments of Tuition - Payment Dates: July 1, September 1, December 1, February 1 of application year

Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) - 2.0% of tuition

TRP only covers 50% of the remaining tuition balance, student must attend 14 consecutive days of school to qualify. See brochure for more details.

Why would you need a Tuition Refund Plan?

Your financial obligation to the school is for the full annual tuition as stated in the school’s enrollment contract. The school cannot refund tuition or cancel unpaid obligations if your child is forced to withdraw during the academic year.

If your son or daughter withdraws, the Tuition Refund Plan will pay benefits (subject to the terms of the policy and the amount insured) to the school, which provides substantial assistance in meeting your financial obligation.

Every year, thousands of students must withdraw from private schools. The following are examples of reasons why:
